TERMS OF SERVICE

• Service Fee: $900.00 plus GST includes $200.00 plus GST non-refundable booking and mare handling fee payable on acceptance of this contract.
• Service carries L.F.G (Live foal guarantee).
• Service season will run from October through January.
• Edgewater Farm will not accept any maiden mare over 10 years of age without prior arrangement.(Contact us to discuss any mare over 10 years of age). 
• Edgewater Farm will not accept mares for foaling or mares with foals at foot.(Mares with foals at foot can be serviced on a 'walk in, walk out' basis by prior arrangement) 
• The mare must have a veterinary clearance indicating she is free of disease, healthy and in appropriate condition to breed.
• The mare must be wormed prior to delivery to the stud.
• Grazing/feeding fee is $25.00 per week. All mares will be grass fed (Hay will be supplemented at our expense if shortage of grass). If your mare requires any other feed requirements these must be provided at the time of arrival and there will be a further charge of $2 per day to administer the feed to your mare. All charges are plus gst.
• All mares will be scanned for pregnancy at 16-20 days after last service to negate twinning, at owner’s expense. Vet expenses incurred will be charged direct to the mare owner by the vet. All mares remaining at the stud will have a 30 day scan and a final scan at 42 days to confirm pregnancy is on track.
• Once pregnancy is confirmed and notified the mare must return home. Any further agistment will be by arrangement only, subject to availability of grazing.

1. All fees due are payable prior to mare being removed from property.

 

2. A  LFG will be given once the mare has been scanned in foal or 42 days after last service provided notification of pregnancy from a veterinarian has been received by Edgewater Farm. This includes mares that leave prior to being scanned. 

-LFG starts from 42 days after last service up to 48 hours of age of the foal.

-Mare may be returned in the same season as long as a veterinary certificate is provided to confirm not in foal and she is cleared to be served. A mare whose foal fails to live 48 hours must utilize free return within that season. A vet certificate must be provided showing the mare has been cared for and is free from ailment, infection or trauma and confirm loss of foal. If mare is not in foal, a veterinary certificate must be provided no later than 2 weeks after mares due date.

-The right to receive a return service is lost if the Mare is sold.

-Should the Mare or Stallion die the live foal guarantee will become null and void.

-LFG does not cover Booking and handling fee, agistment, vet fees etc. - Should the Mare leave prior to being scanned in foal then the balance of the stud fee is payable before departure and LFG is not given until the Mare is scanned in foal  and certificate produced from a veterinarian.

-First scan must take place 16 to 18 days after last service to negate twins or LFG will be null and void.

-Service will only be refunded if Stallion is no longer available for service. This excludes the booking and handling fee.

 

3. The mare owner shall be responsible for and agrees to pay on demand any veterinary fees, farriers costs and charges for the mare. Where possible the proprietor will attempt to communicate with the mare owner prior to the expense being incurred. All mares must have all shoes removed, caslicks removed. Failure to do so will mean refusal to serve or alternatively the cost of removing will be added to your invoice. All mares must have a cover provided for their stay at the stud as nights are cool and it rains frequently in the Mamaku ranges.

 

4. The proprietor shall provide all care and attention to the mare but shall not be liable for any loss, damage or claims of whatsoever nature or howsoever arising from injury, sickness or death caused to or sustained by the mare whilst under the proprietor's care, or the control of its servants or agents. 

 

5. The proprietor reserves the right to refuse to allow service of the mare if she is in the opinion of the proprietor unfit for service or poses a threat to the safety of either our stallion or ourselves.

 

6.  The owner accepts the proprietors right to advertise the details and exploits of any future progeny of Pintado Desperado's from this contract.

 

6. The client warrants that he/she (or it in the case of a limited liability company) is the registered owner (lessee) of the broodmare.
