PINTADO DESPERADO

Los Caballos Pintados - The Painted Horses

Progeny 2007/08 Season

Pintado Oscana 'The Foal'

We purchased Pintado Desperado in July 2005 as a riding horse and no mares were serviced in the 2005/2006 season. Only one mare was serviced in the 2006/2007 season and the result of that mating was born in January 2008. Therefore there was a period of two years in which only one foal was born.

Wingfire & her newborn colt foal born Jan 2008 - Only a few hours old

Congratulations to Celia grant on the arrival of the first of the Desperado youngster's bred by Edgewater Stud. This lovely colt is the only Desperado foal born this season as Desperado has had time off from Stud duties the past two years. Celia is Edgewater Stud's Equine Vet so we will be able to closely watch the development of this lovely colt in the future.

Wingfire is a 24 year old NZ Thoroughbred mare by Sharivari out of the TB mare Hi Fujin.

Osca exploring his new world

Pintado Oscana is growing well thanks to his wonderful dam Wingfire. The following photos show Osca at 3 weeks old.

Pintado Oscana 'The Yearling'

Just look at him now!!

Oscana has grown into a very attractive yearling.

His foal coat of bay and white gave way to a dark black/brown and white

His coat is most unusual with water marks of grey melting down from the white spots on his back and rump. Oscar will most likely grey out in time like Desperado.

Oscana is very quiet and friendly and Celia insists he uses manners at all time as a colt at this age likes to start testing his handlers.

Oscana is still happy to play and I was lucky enough to catch a moment when he was showing off and had all four feet above the ground.
