PINTADO DESPERADO

Los Caballos Pintados - The Painted Horses

The Edgewater Farm Family

 Edgewater Homestead

Edgewater Farm is owned and managed by the Marshall Family.

The family own and run WAREHOUSE CARS in ROTORUA. Nigel & Debbi take care of the Stud & Farm work in the morning then off to the Car yard until late in the evening. When they return to take over any remaining Stud work from the girls (that's if they have done anything but ride! That's not what we consider work round here, ha).

Debbie and Nigel

Nigel & Debbi have over the last few years imported a couple Dodge Ram 3500 trucks for their own use. These wonderful diesel powered vehicles make the job of towing a pleasurable experience. The Dodge Ram trucks are imported for towing with ease. Anyone wishing to purchase a Dodge Ram is welcome to contact us.

(Check out Dodge Ram Trucks and Dodge Gallery for more details and photos of these vehicles)

Nigel & Debbi have also brought a couple of motorhomes home from the USA after first holidaying in them for several weeks. They did this in consecutive years enjoying the experience of driving them across the States whilst site seeing along the way.  The Coachmen Mirada has so much to offer with slideouts to increase living room, airconditioners and heating. They are all fully self contained with holding tanks and generators for power anywhere anytime. We would love to go back for another holiday, and would happily bring Motorhomes back for you. For more details see the Motorhomes page.

Nigel Marshall

The Marshall family is headed by Nigel Marshall, our newly converted horselover.

When Nigel is not being cajoled into helping with the mares he sticks to his passion for dogs, cars, trucks, motorhomes, sea fishing & Jetsprinting. Nigels first love on the farm are his dogs.

Debbi Marshall

Debbi Marshall, a life-long rider & competitor, has taken a step back from her riding in recent years to take on more responsibilities behind the scenes including setting up & aiding in the running of the Bay of Plenty Show Hunter group.

Debbi is also a Show Hunter course builder & Show Hunter candidate judge. Debbi controls the stud and is actively involved in all stud duties with the help of Nigel or the girls when necessary.

Debbi's latest project is an Arab/Clydesdale/Thoroughbred cross youngster, CR Cha Cha, whom Charelle will be bringing on slowly to join our team of Hunter/Jumpers in the future.

 Charelle & CR Cha Cha

Charelle Marshall

Eldest daughter, Charelle Marshall has mostly specialised in Show Hunter on previous mounts, including "Craigroy Stephano", "Nifty Fifty" and "Zigazigaar" and of course "Pintado Desperado". All with whom she enjoyed sustained success.

Charelle & Sirocco Tango

Charelle has now made the transition to the Show jumping ring with her young horse Sirocco Tango (sired by the Clydesdale stallion Glendevon Commander) and Debbi's young horse CR. Cha Cha. Charelle has found herself following the Young Horse Show Hunter & Show Jumping Series with both "Sirocco Tango" and CR. Cha Cha. We are very excited by the fantastic relationship Charelle has built with these young mares and the results they continue to achieve together.

Charelle & Sirocco Tango

Charelle is an Early Childhood Teacher who in her spare time is now turning her talents to training young horses and fine tuning older horses. Her love is training green horses until they are confident and ready to go on with a new owner. She uses Show Hunter as the training ground for future jumpers. Charelle instructs at Hannahs Bay Pony Club in Rotorua and also teaches a number of her pupils at Edgewater or at their own properties.

Charelle arranges jumping clinics with her own trainer "Jill Ullrich" who teaches both Showjumping and Show Hunter riders. Jill instructs riders the length and breadth of New Zealand at many levels of jumping (From the beginner to the Grand Prix Showjumper and all those in between). Any rider jumping in any discipline can benefit from Jill's imense pool of knowledge. Jill trains both Rider and Horse and has been training our family since she arrived from the USA many years ago. Many many times she has been able to solve a problem that has developed with either the horse or the rider. Any person interested in coming to Rotorua for lessons with Jill please email Charelle at charelle.marshall@hotmail.com.

Kirsty Marshall

Youngest daughter, Kirsty Marshall, also rides Show Hunter and Show Jumping. Having previously specialised in Show Jumping to Grand Prix on 'Thundadun' and Show Hunter with the multi title winning 'Buddy Lonestar' before being sold overseas.

Kirsty & Thundadun

Following a Season in the USA instructing Junior Hunter Jumpers at the acclaimed Thomas School in New York, then a move to the UK for two years, Kirsty has only competed intermittently on 'stolen rides' from friends & family as and when she has been back in NZ.

Pintado Desperado was purchased for Kirsty as an impeccably mannered Schoolmaster to encourage her return to the competition world. With her hectic work schedule we knew Desperado could be relied upon to always remain his wonderfully schooled self.

Kirsty & Desperado; the perfect gentleman in any situation.

We never imagined Desperado would prove to be so in demand as a sire, so in Kirsty's absence Rado was returned to breeding fulltime.

Welcome
